When I got a new pair of shoes...

When was the last time you kissed you mother goodbye before going to school, when you played with your pomeranian, when you fell off the chair laughing at a joke, when you spent a sunny, sunday morn watering your plants or when you smiled when you heard your favourite song being played on the radio?

This tuesday afternoon, when I came up with the idea of vaguely naming an unwritten blogpost "when I got a new pair of shoes",I wasn't really thinking about anything this introspective and serious to write. It is only when I heard Baz Luhrmann's,"The
Sunscreen Song" on my media player that I thought of typing all that I've already written and all that I'll be writing.

This blog is to remind all those who are busy running the rat-race for materialistic power to stop for just one moment and think of all those little but important things in our daily lives that often go by unnoticed and are left meandering somewhere, somplace.Baz Luhrmann in his recital truly talks about all the things we keep worrying about and all the things we neglect in the bargain. We spend days and months worrying about how fat we look or what impressions we've made on people, when we truly know deep down inside that all those thoughts are immaterial and of no great value. We've lost a lot of time in thinking about how to put the next person down or in making money as if they grew out of trees or in wondering where we went wrong with our children. But there is still time.To learn to be with the people we love and meet.To take your sibling out with you instead of bribing her with a candy like everytime. To actually wear that pair of new shoes that you got and feel great when you jog, instead of putting it up on display just to show off it's brand.

We are so entrenched in this vortex of being the best, getting the most and winning the race that we fail to realise how robotic we have become. And this is what we have to put an end to.Science is telling us that we have few years more to live and so we surely wouldn't want to spend the rest of our shrunken lives thinking about how we wasted the past in reaping shallow benefits and ruining others' lives. The time is right to do what you wanted to do yesteray now!To give a loved one a big hug.And to wear that pair of new shoes and feel great in them!
